The LORD said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have asked; for you have found favor (lovingkindness, mercy) in My sight and I have known you [personally] by name.” Then Moses said, “Please, show me Your glory!”
EXODUS 33:17-18 AMP
Hello everyone, grace and blessings I bring to you.
This month’s post will be about the indescribable word called GLORY! This might be a long journey of series of posts (I am joking) but I pray you will stay with me till the end as God reveals his glory and speak to us.
I don’t know about you but I have heard countless songs and phrases about the GLORY OF GOD. Personally, I get emotional because the meaning of my name is the ‘Glory of God’.
I have this Aunty who usually start singing ‘Shekinah glory come down…release the fullness of your glory…’ anytime she sees me , but deep down I used to get nervous and freak out a bit and the interesting thing is, I don’t know why lol (she has stopped now, I think she is on break lol) . On a more serious note, I just didn’t know how to react once she starts singing…. I am sure someone will say why don’t you sing aloud? It is easier said than done, well in an awkward situation like this one, I feel uncomfortable and uncontrollably smile till I am tired.
As I grow and mature in the Lord, I have embraced my name and the meaning with my all, as I know the importance of one’s name and how it means a lot and identifies you as a person, to some extent. (Ask Jabez: 1 Chronicles 4:19-20 and Jacob: Gen 32:27-29).
We can see that in the opening verse Exodus 33:17, God personally told Moses that He knew his name. This is so sweet to me. I mean, I know God was probably telling Moses that I know everything about you! You can confidently talk and express yourself to someone when you really know them. To be honest with you, everyone can know your name but it doesn’t mean they really know who you are. Let’s take social media for example, we know all these so called random people by face (pictures) and names but we can’t 100% say we KNOW them. So can we confidently say God KNOWS us just as he testified about Moses saying he has found favour in his sight and King David as a man after his own heart? (Exo 33:17; 1 Sam 13:14, Acts 13:22)
I am thankful to God for my parents for giving me this name. This is because the more I fellowship with my maker, I can personally testify the goodness and favour I have received from God and people just because of my name (don’t jealous me lol).
Don’t we all love Tasha Cobbs’ song, ‘for your glory’… I will do anything… However, once the Spirit drew my attention to some revelations regarding my name, I no longer sing and pray some prayers. Please, don’t get me wrong, the Holy Spirit assured me that I am His glory, therefore, why ask for something you have already received? Oh and recently my friend confirmed this very thing (God always confirms his word)!
The good news is that once you are in Christ, you can behold His glory because you are formed and made in His image, as 2 Corinthians 3:18 confirms. So don’t worry if you are not called the glory of God, but the important point is that WE HAVE BEEN CALLED TO SHOW OF GOD’S GLORY IN EVERYTHING WE DO!
The main question is that, are you reflecting Gods glory?
Interestingly, some people don’t really care about the impact or significance of their name and that is absolutely fine too. This reminds me of what one of my favourite MOG says, ‘Believing is a choice’! However, if you believe your name may not be impactful, I will suggest that you speak life or call yourself a name that will bring goodwill to you. It is very important to speak life always (Proverbs 18:21)
I know so many people whose names and meaning have a visible impact on their life. My sister Abigail(wise and beautiful) is the best example, my cousin Dorcas(charitable) and lastly my friend Karen(pure) too. These are few examples to share. Everyday, I witness them walking in their destinies and definitely apart from Gods hands on their lives, I can confirm that their names are reflecting and manifesting in their life.
I just stopped to drive away a butterfly loool….well we will continue in the next post God willing!
God bless you all and I appreciate your time to read my post.
